Dear SciComm enthusiasts,

We have taken the decision to postpone our STEAM Summer School to 23 – 31 January 2021. We have been carefully tracking the status of the pandemic, as well as travel restrictions placed in various countries and have decided it will be too difficult to offer a face to face programme as normal in July.

We apologise for this change and want to assure all involved that our priority is to provide an authentic experience. We are aware the pandemic has made things difficult for many in a number of ways, including financially. For this reason, we are reducing our registration fee from €700 to €500 for this edition of the summer school. We hope this will increase accessibility of the programme.

For those who have already applied / registered to the summer school:

• If you have applied for a STEAM grant – we have stored your application and it will be automatically entered into our review process for the school in January.
• If you have an ERASMUS+ Mobility grant – we will work with you to ensure that your funding can be applied to the postponed school.
• If you paid a registration fee – we will contact you to ensure you are able to attend the new dates. If you are able to attend we will refund you the difference of your registration fee. If you are not able to attend we will issue a full refund.

STEAM ‘Winter School’

Though we must postpone our original programme, we believe that with a flexible approach, challenges can be turned into opportunities. This will be our first ‘winter’ school, hosted in a post-Covid-19 context and we will be adapting our content to this end. We hope to provide a tailored programme that will harness key learning from our current situation to explore how science communication will change in future and how we can prepare for that.

Though we expect we will be able to run the winter school as a face-to-face programme as usual, we will also be preparing the means to run it long-distance. This will ensure that we can run the programme, even in the event of further travel restrictions.

We are now looking forward to hosting you in January and will update further when our grant schemes and registration for the winter school will open. If you would like to be notified as soon as this is posted, please enter your email below:

Best wishes,
