Dialogue Module

2.9 Bonus Homework

Is there someone in your life who disagrees with you on a sensitive topic? Try having a conversation with them applying some of the rules of dialogue, including active listening and re-framing confrontational or obstructive comments into questions. Approach the conversation not as an opportunity to convince but to learn more about their side.

How did you find it:

  • Was the person more receptive to the discussion?
  • Did you start to understand their viewpoint more?
  • Did you identify any common ground?
